As a small business, Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center strives to allow employees flexibility in their schedules. After one to two years with the company, employees can choose to set their own schedules. Some work four 10-hour days and others four long days plus one half-day. The company allows volunteer hours for employees to spend at their child’s school with pay and helps staff members use flex time to allow easier scheduling around sick children, doctor’s appointments and conferences. In some instances, employees can bring children to work, and CPHC provides a small space with games/crafts for the children as needed to minimize disruption.
