To encourage employees to become involved in school and community volunteer activities, full-time, non-unionized employees are permitted to take up to 10 hours of paid time per calendar year and part-time employees up to five hours per year. Duke Energy also has dedicated lactation facilities that ensure privacy to working moms. Lactation facilities have features such as breast pumps, refrigerators, sinks, telephones, comfortable furniture and mom-focused magazines.
